    Insert the safety eyes between Rnd 11 and Rnd 12, about 11 stitches apart and centered on the front, so they sit on the upper front of the dome for a friendly face. Begin stuffing the head firmly.

    Stuff each tentacle lightly from the open base, leaving the last 2 rounds nearly flat for sewing. Fasten off, leaving a long tail, and do not close the base.

Assembly

Pin the 8 tentacles evenly around the lower body, with the open bases sitting across Rnd 21 to Rnd 23. Place 2 at the front, 2 at the back, and 2 on each side so all eight read clearly.

Sew each open base securely to the body, flattening each 10-stitch base slightly as you go so the tentacles radiate outward from the underside.

Curve each tentacle into a gentle C shape and tack the tip lightly back toward the body with one small hidden stitch. Vary the curl direction a little so the octopus looks lively while all eight stay visible.

Check the face from the front. The eyes should sit above the tentacle ring on the rounded mantle for a friendly expression.
